Broken Flamingo

Kyna’s Flamingo, 22nd November, 2016

I have no idea who said it to me, but someone informed me that the path to contentment lay in acknowledging and accepting the end of something long before it ended. Imagine your possessions are gone as they surely will be one way or an another, and then, live with them, love them, use them, appreciate them with all your heart so that you squeeze all the enjoyment and pleasure and love from them while you have them because you have already accepted their loss. When they eventually break, are stolen, become misplaced you won’t feel it so keenly because you’ll recognise the inevitability of that and simultaneously know that you appreciated them to their fullest while you had them. I elected not to share this with Kyna when she opened her parcel and found the broken flamingo.
